About Worthy Wellness

Worthy Wellness is a comprehensive and multi-faceted social agency that aims to support and strengthen the caregiver’s relationship with their inner being, their families and the communities they serve. Worthy Wellness was founded in 2012 by Nkosazana Dlamini-Haas, a leader and social entrepreneur with more than 12 years’ experience assisting clients and their caregivers navigate and manage the complex situations that they face each day. Nkosazana’s earliest inspiration to take up a care-giving profession came from the role that she was born into as the first of ten children. Throughout her life, Nkosazana survived many traumatic experiences including the divorce of her parents, sexual violation, domestic violence, and the loss of loved ones to HIV/AIDS. Her career as a social worker also introduced her to a community of professional caregivers who, like her, have endured many of the issues that affect those they serve. The reality is, caregivers are not immune to the social ills that affect their clients. While caring may bring joy to those who practice it, it is often an emotionally exhausting activity that produces feelings of anger, frustration, inadequacy and helplessness. Caregivers who experience these feelings may become physically, emotionally and spiritually fatigued which may lead to a decrease in their ability to care for others. Compassion fatigue, as it is called, may even impair the caregiver’s ability to render effective services or maintain personal and professional relationships. The Worthy Wellness approach provides support to caregiver by helping them develop the skills they need to live worthy lifestyles that are characterized by a sense of purpose, balance, character, high quality of life, high-esteem, and leaving a legacy of good deeds.

Worthy Wellness and Consulting recognizes that caregivers from all walks of life have inner resources, insight and  the strengths to take care  of others but often neglect themselves and their needs while responding to other’s needs. Care that start from within and radiates out to the world is most sustainable.
