Anxiety and Anger Counselling
The more angry and frustrated you become, the more unpredictable you are.
Anxiety is one of many common conditions that are emotionally disabling but may go for years without being identified. Anxiety can be a common symptom among people who have suffered traumatic experiences, whether physically, psychologically or emotionally. Although anxiety has many varied root causes, it commonly manifests in circumstances of ill-treatment of self and others, trauma, low self-esteem, excessive use alcohol, and negative self image. Causes may also be genetic. Unlike rationalised fear, anxiety may be overwhelming and can cause people to avoid situations that trigger their anxiety. Treatment of anxiety may be as varied as its intensity and causes.
When anxiety is untreated it can often lead to physical symptoms that are uncontrollable and causes the person to feel psychosomatic. Therapeutic counselling is often helpful in helping the client gain perspective on what the triggers are and the root causes of the anxiety and its history. There are ways in which self-help techniques can be done such as relaxation, breathing and other mindful techniques. In cases where the anxiety is severe there might be a need for referral for extensive psychological and psychiatric interventions to help one cope better with this condition.
Anger
Anger is one of South Africa’s worst problems especially when you look at the rate of hate crimes committed in the country. It is often an expression on things not spoken, it starts with minor frustrations that are not communicated that lead to the person bursting or abruptly reacting to a situation without thinking about the long-term impact of his actions. Expression of anger on any form is bound to create animosity and break loving relationships. Once a person reaching the stage of anger that is expressed negatively they find it difficult to control themselves and often do not believe what they have done because they are anger-driven. Worthy Wellness provides services that help people deal with the root of their anger not by talking about the past over and over but by enabling the person to move from the past to the present and find solutions that are more construct and ways of expression that are more immediate yet effective and constructive. We also look at working with other professionals to determine the reasons for uncontrollable anger.
